Project 996 Ducati!

The original yellow body work was removed to make way for the fiberglass 998 race body work from e-racings.

Based on the low cost for the set, I knew there would be many hours of fitting and sanding.

The original tail light holes were cut too low so they had to be moved up and resized.

Plastic covers the chassis and wheels to keep dust and fiberglass out of important areas.

The frame, sub-frame, headlamp bucket and top triple-clamp will be coated red.  The wheels, swingarm, and other small parts will be black.

We started tearing the bike down so the major components could be sent to Diamond Coat for powdercoating.

The frame came back from Diamond Coat looking fantastic.  They spent a lot of time making sure no spots were missed.

Swing arm being reassembled with rear hub and pivot bearings.

Frame meets suspension and wheels for the first time since coating.  The pictures just dont do it justice.

Even the headlamp bucket and mounts turned out flawless with all the difficult to reach areas.

The engine is getting re-assembled with the vented clutch housing and wrapped header pipes.  Many of the other engine covers were coated as well.

The clutch housing was vented to keep the clutch basket cool.  This keeps the clutch from getting "grabby"

Engine is in and exhaust is being fitted.  The exhaust was wrapped in DEI thermal wrap and coated with DEI's silicone protective spray.

I've found it's easier to leave the engine set on stands and lift the chassis over the top.  It took about 10 minutes.
